Ride Safe Act

2026-05-06 12:30 PM | Doug Cornelius (Administrator)

Governor Maura Healey filed the "Ride Safe Act" to enhance the safety of e-bikes, e-motos, and other micro-mobility equipment. MassBike was an integral part of the Micromobility Commission that came up with the recommendations. It's a largely speed based approach, rather than the name of the device. Transit that is capable of going faster should require safety, like helmets, for riders.

Doug, do you know if there is a document that completely states all requirements of the Ride Safe Act that can be read through and understood without requiring reference to multiple sections of Ch 90 and what is to be changed there?

    Thanks.
